As a makeup artist to stars such as Keira Knightley and Kate Winslet, Lisa Eldridge has become somewhat of a celebrity herself. I have been a loyal Lisa follower since she first started posting videos nearly a decade ago.
Her book, Face Paint: The Story of Makeup, which was released in 2015, is truly a must-have for any makeup lover. Lisa released a line of lipsticks and I am fortunate enough to own a handful of these little beauties and will be featuring them in today’s blog post. She also has a jewelry line, which is equally stunning.
One day soon I’ll invest in some of her jewelry. Rings are my absolute favorite accessory and hers are truly unique and eye-catching creations. If you are a jewelry lover, you will want to check them out and ogle over the little boxes they come in, as well!
There’s so much to love about all of Lisa’s work. The videos she posts provide honest, high quality, professional tutorials. Every once in a while one of her cats will make a cameo appearance, and I can’t say no to those fluffy faces. The icing on the cake is that Lisa has an incredibly soothing voice. I could go for some audio books narrated by Lisa.
This past summer I was able to get my hands on two lipsticks from Lisa’s Luxuriously Lucent line called Go Lightly and Love of my Life. The colors are vibrant and include a bright coral and rosy pink hue. I find them to be quite flattering and comfortable to wear. While these shades are a little brighter than what I would normally wear, they are very beautiful. The formula is semi-sheer, but easily buildable, in my experience. I find the swatches on her website to be extremely accurate and portray the colors well. They can certainly be worn during any time of the year, but I think I would reach for these lip colors during the warmer months. Go Lightly was not re-released this time around, but I believe it may make an appearance again in another upcoming release. Love of My Life is currently still available for purchase on her website.
Please note that her lipsticks are made in small batches and are in limited quantities! Keep an eye on her website and sign up for her newsletter if you are interested in being the first to know when these are available.
As you can see in the photos, the lipsticks are in matte gold tubes, and what you can’t tell is that the caps are magnetic, which is both practical and fun. I like when a lipstick is a bit heavier, and these are the perfect weight and feel in my hand.
Lisa released another lipstick collection in her True Velvets formula a few months ago. As the two lipsticks I purchased previously were part of the Luxuriously Lucent formula, I was very curious about this new velvet formula. I tend to wear lipsticks that have some shine or that have a glossy or creamy finish. I do not typically reach for matte colors or formulas, even though they have been extremely popular lately in the makeup world. I really value Lisa’s keen expertise, and I was impressed with the other formula I tried, so I figured I would purchase some from this velvet line and give the matte lipsticks a fair assessment. There’s been so much praise for Lisa’s lipsticks, I figured I couldn’t go wrong.
I ordered these lipsticks in the fall and was thrilled when I received the package. I will say that shipping was extremely fast, although I know this depends on where you are located. The release was on a Monday and the delivery guy was knocking on my door Tuesday morning! I purchased The New Velvet Collection, (sold out) which consists of three colors: Velvet Fawn, Velvet Muse, and Velvet Decade. They came housed in a cherry red velvet makeup bag, which is so stunning. I have a hard time saying no to a beautiful bag and this one looks and feels so rich! I also have the aquamarine linen makeup bag from when I purchased my first two lipsticks, which I haven’t been able to put away because it’s also so pretty.
The True Velvet lipsticks did not disappoint! They are matte yet not at all drying. The colors are gorgeous and they really work on any skin tone. I did not have any similar shades or formulas comparable to these already in my lipstick collection. The actual lipstick bullet is textured exactly like velvet and is truly luxurious in every way. The attention to detail is simply fascinating. I would definitely recommend these and will purchase more colors in this formula, as well as her other formulas in the future.
Lisa also has lipsticks in an Insanely Saturated formula, which I have yet to test, but I have no doubt performs amazingly well, just like the others. I will certainly give an update when I purchase any of her other lipsticks.
If you are a makeup lover like me, then you are probably already following Lisa. If I am the first to introduce you to her and her genius work, I am happy to have done so and know you will enjoy learning from her and observing the beauty she shares through her makeup artistry on herself as well as others. If you have any interest in the history of cosmetics, I would recommend her book to you. It is well-written and full of interesting information, vibrant, colorful images, and the cover is a work of art and deserves to be on display. Mine is on my vanity.
